- Every parent has something that they are very very particular about when it comes to parenting. I have a couple of things -
One , I keep the promises I make to my child, unless there is a real emergency. If I promise him that I will tell him a story after he finished his food, I will tell him a story. If I promise him that he will not get a story unless he comes withing a count of 3, he knows I mean it. For me , it is extremely important to build trust with my child , by letting him know that I mean what I say.
Another thing that I am particular about is the tone of voice- It could just be an idiosyncrasy of mine, but I am extremely sensitive to people's tone of voice. Someone with a jarring tone of voice will have a tough time making a positive impression on me :D Nevertheless, that is a rant for another day - but I do believe someone's tone of voice often determines the tone of their life. I keep insisting that my child talk in an appropriate tone of voice. This is going to take a long time for him to get it, but I think it will definitely be worth it. To regulate the way one communicates is an extremely important life skill
- I have been having trouble staying consistent with keyboard sessions. Somedays, I get caught up with something ; other days there is resistance from my child to learning, and finding the balance between pushing him and giving him space is always hard. I don't want to push him and have him develop aversion towards music. I am trying to play keyboard more often, and he often joins in , and he has his own favourite songs that he enjoys listening to. Hopefully, we will be able to create a routine for him to practice music, where he practices willingly .
- I have started him on some advanced math - it is gamified and he really enjoys it, and is showing a lot of initiative in asking when we will have the next session ! I am really hoping to stay consistent with it.
